You Have A Purpose In Lifeby Robert A. RohmHave you ever wondered why you were put on this earth? I mean… what is your purpose in life? Why do you exist? Regardless of where you are on this journey called life, I have good news for you! You can fulfill the purpose for which you were created. But do you know what that purpose is?A few years ago, I was reading a book entitled Further Along The Road Less Traveled by Scott Peck M.D. In his fine work, Dr. Peck tells of his history and experience in the mental health profession. Scott Peck is a psychiatrist and has counseled thousands of patients. He has appeared on the “Oprah Winfrey” show several times. He is brilliant, yet very down to earth and practical.I was reading his book one night, and I came across his summary thoughts: “I believe that we are on this planet for about 70 years for 2 reasons.” (I could hardly wait to gain his wisdom and insight. Here is a man who has devoted his life to helping people clear up the “fog” in their heads, and I want to be as clear headed as possible! What had he reduced all of life’s pursuits down to? Are you ready?) He said, “We are here for 2 reasons: to learn and to grow!” Wow! I can do that and so can you!I have allowed that one thought to permeate my thinking almost every day for the last 6 years of my life. I wake up every morning and think, “Dear God, thank you for another day. Help me to fulfill the purpose for my life today by learning and growing.” It is simple, to the point, very doable and encouraging. I can do it… and so can you!Remember your purpose every day in the future. It will help you see life through a new set of glasses. Why are you here? You are here to learn and to grow!Tip: You have a purpose in life. This column’s source is "A Tip in the Right Direction"Copyright 2004 Personality Insights, Inc. Duplication prohibited.
